Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Authorities stated they were notified by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the substance was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

A high-ranking official stated the incident made him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
